In order for youth to compete in the job market, they must be exposed and educated in “soft skills” such as answering a telephone, leaving a voicemail, how to conduct oneself in an interview, dressing for work, filling out a job application, writing a resume, etc. CBCC OST preps students in these skills through various Work Ready Workshops club activities. In addition, guest speakers and panels help aid and reinforce the importance of such skills in seeking and obtaining employment. Higher Education and Employment outcomes are achieved through college prep skills that youth received – test taking, organization, study skills, etc. through educating youth in these “soft skills,” their confidence grows, and their chance for employment abounds.
