Catholic Social Services’ Family Service Centers and Out-of-School Time Programs across the region are continuing to keep clients and children virtually engaged, connected, and supported amid the public health crisis facing our nation.

Catholic Social Services’ Out-Of-School Time Programs (OST), a ministry of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, recently participated in the 20th annual “Lights on After School” celebration.

More than 50 area youth saddled up for safety, and for a new school year, at an Aug. 2 “bike rodeo.” Now in its second year, the gathering gave kids at the Mayfair Out of School Time (OST) program in Northeast Philadelphia a chance to learn the rules of the road for two-wheeled transport.

Social media followers may have replaced pen pals, but one group of area students recently revived the age-old tradition of letter-writing. This summer, students at St. Helena’s Out of School Time (OST) program in Philadelphia’s Olney neighborhood put down their cell phones to correspond with members of a local senior club.

At an August 2nd “bike rodeo” hosted by Catholic Social Services, officers from the Philadelphia Police 15th District helped some 50 kids learn the rules of the road, while getting ready for a new school year. The Northeast Times covered this miniature bike rodeo.
